Our Story
The Inclusive Australian Agency of Mental Health Practitioners (IAAMHP) was established to address the growing need for a unified approach to mental health practice in Australia. While some mental health professionals, such as psychologists and psychiatrists, are regulated by bodies like AHPRA, many others work without similar oversight. This lack of consistent regulation can create confusion around qualifications, professional accountability, and service quality, potentially impacting client safety.
IAAMHP advocates for equitable opportunities for all mental health professionals, based on their qualifications and experience. We also call for the government to regulate all mental health professionals under a statutory body, similar to AHPRA, to ensure consistency in qualifications and safeguard public and client safety.
We are committed to promoting transparency in the qualifications and experience of mental health professionals, ensuring that clients and the public have reliable access to information about practitioners' credentials. By fostering an inclusive regulatory framework that recognises and supports professionals from both regulated and non-regulated sectors, we aim to enhance the quality and consistency of mental health services across Australia.
